Definitely protects, not too convenient

I personally LOVE all Built NY products. This one comes with a hard shell on the bottom half to protect the camera. However, because it totally closes with the top coming over it, it’s very difficult to get the camera in and out very speedily to capture those “perfect shots” wherever you may be!
So if you are looking for a camera case that will protect as you travel, this is the one. Very durable, good quality… i would have just like a better top fixture like the regular Built NY electric pockets.

Not just for cameras

Our family has assorted of these and not one holds a camera! I use one for my big original Zune and another for an iTouch. Both of my kids use them to hold iPods. The hard back makes it easy to slip in an mp3 player and offers a great deal of shelter versus dropping. Cords and earbuds fit in the back pocket. The stretchy hood prevents the player from falling out accidently in a purse or backpack.
As a professor I travel around campus a lot and need to carry with me little items like my cell phone, lipstick, ID, a bit of cash and a keydrive. Women’s professional costume never has pockets which makes it hard. I’ve tried a zippered pouch or wrist bag but it looks too much like a makeup bag and the zipper makes a surprising amount of noise. A purse or briefcase is too big and a folio doesn’t work with bulky items. This little case is perfective – I may fit everything in and just have one item to carry. The black one looks professional and may be opened without any noise. But the best portion is that with the hood open, the whole thing props up, making it easy to get at things inside. I leave it propped open on my desk and all I have to do is grab my key drive and go! It movies without apparent effort from briefcase to desk to classroom to meetings to home.

Such a cute case and very compact

I purchased this because I love this Built Ny pattern. I already own the lunch tote and know how lasting and easy to clean their merchandise are. With that being said, this is a snug fitting case, the front portion of the case is just the thick fabric, and the back is the hard shell. I think that if I dropped my camera it would be protected, but there’s only one way to recognise for sure and I’m not attempting that on purpose.
This case is perfective for me because I may keep it in my purse without adding a lot of bulkiness. I have the Canon Powershot SD1200IS camera presently and use to have the SD630 with it and they both fit well. I hope this review helps you make your decision.
